After declining to activate his option to extend his contract until June 2025 last summer, Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappé was placed in limbo. Wilfried Mbappé did not take this period well, especially with the numerous rumors swirling around.
While Kylian Mbappé sought and eventually reached a deal with PSG to rejoin the team, this period was particularly tough for the camp of the French international.
It was especially difficult for his father, Wilfried, as revealed by journalist Christian Jeanpierre, a long-time friend, in a documentary that will be aired on L’Équipe Channel this Monday.
« Furious? Oh yes. There was reason to be. It was tough. I don’t think he lost it. I think in his mind, knowing ‘Will’ quite well, it was like a pressure cooker and he wanted to take everyone down, but he didn’t. He didn’t lose his cool at all, but there was reason to. There were downright lies being spread by people at very high levels. Completely false statements. And in those situations, all you want to do is speak out, call L’Équipe, and say ‘Hey guys, they’re saying anything about my son’ and he didn’t. And I admire that composure, you need it, » explained Jeanpierre.
