Kylian Mbappé will be a Real Madrid player next season, and he will wear the number 9 jersey… for now.
Since his two favorite numbers are taken – Vinicius Junior currently wears number 7 and Luka Modric wears number 10 – French striker Kylian Mbappé will wear the number 9 jersey when he joins Real Madrid next season, according to French daily Le Parisien.
However, this will only be a temporary solution. Mbappé is expected to inherit the number 10 jersey when Luka Modric leaves the club in the summer of 2025.
The number 9 jersey holds special significance for Mbappé, as it was the number worn by his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, during his time at Real Madrid. Additionally, the number 9 has been worn by other legendary Real Madrid strikers such as Alfredo Di Stefano, Ivan Zamorano, and Ronaldo (the Brazilian).
