The next Trophée des Champions will take place in China next summer, pitting AS Monaco against PSG. Here are all the details.
PSG versus AS Monaco is set. The Trophée des Champions is scheduled for Thursday, August 8th, in Beijing, China. The date will be officially confirmed next week during the LFP board meeting. « The organization hesitated between August 8th and 10th, but, barring any last-minute changes, decided to schedule the match for Thursday, August 8th, at 8:00 PM local time (2:00 PM in Paris), » assures L’Equipe.
PSG will embark on its summer tour in the country. The club has previously visited China on several occasions for three Trophées des Champions: in 2014 in Beijing against Guingamp (2-0) and twice in Shenzhen, in 2018 against Monaco (4-0) and in 2019 against Rennes (2-1).
PSG initially aimed to travel to the United States, but conditions weren’t suitable. It then explored the possibility of South Korea, leveraging the presence of Lee Kang-in, a true star in his country, and where it had concluded its summer tour last year with a victory (3-0) against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in Busan.
