Since taking over PSG in 2011, QSI has invested heavily in the club, but recent reports suggest that the future of the club could be uncertain. L’Équipe speculated that PSG might be put up for sale due to disappointing sports results and delays in the construction of a new stadium. The report also suggested that the Qataris, no longer as focused on the club after the 2022 World Cup, were growing weary of the star players’ demands and the ongoing Kylian Mbappé saga. While there have been internal calls for tighter financial control, QSI has continued to cover the club’s losses.
The recent entry of Arctos Partners into PSG’s capital raised further questions about Qatar’s future involvement, leading some to believe the Emir might be willing to sell if the right offer came along. However, a spokesperson for QSI, speaking to English journalist Ben Jacobs, strongly rejected the rumors, calling them « fake news. »
