According to @PSGInside_Actus on Twitter, everything is open for Kylian Mbappé’s future. PSG is letting the player decide.
Kylian Mbappé has not yet made a decision. According to this well-informed source, there’s nothing new about the extension for now. Everything is on hold during the international break. However, negotiations are ongoing. Mbappé has reportedly given up a huge loyalty bonus of €80 million to ease tensions.
1. Extension until 2025 with a departure in 2024: Mbappé could sign a contract extension until 2025 with a guaranteed departure in 2024. This would allow him to leave PSG a year before the end of his contract, while avoiding leaving for free, as he had promised.
2. Extension until 2026 with a departure option: Another option would be to extend his contract until 2026. In this scenario, Mbappé would have the choice to leave or stay for one more year in Paris, according to his wish. However, in 2025, the club would be obligated to sell him or extend again, similar to Lionel Messi’s situation with Barcelona.
3. Long-term extension: Finally, Mbappé could opt for a long-term contract extension, showing his faith in PSG’s project and almost putting an end to speculation about a potential transfer to Real Madrid.
The final choice will depend on negotiations between Mbappé and PSG, but currently, according to PSG Inside Actus, Mbappé is leaning towards option number 2. This would keep him at PSG for the 2024 Olympics, a crucial aspect in the negotiations.
